Predator Duel isn’t just the name of an immensely popular beer; it’s the title of the explosive clash between two legendary protagonists of the German craft beer scene. The two breweries, Yankee & Kraut and Nürnbier, sat down together in the spring of 2025 and launched a gigantic collaboration. Despite their perceived rivalry, there was no struggle for dominance – instead, the teams channeled their energy into a majestic beer. The original version of Predator Duel is a fine New England IPA that, with its juicy fruitiness, hit like a bombshell. A fruit bomb.

Now comes the second act: the two breweries aim to replicate the success of the original with "Raubtier Duell – das Rückspiel" (Predator Duel – The Return Match), presenting us with a second version that takes things up a notch in terms of hops. The brew is once again a New England IPA, this time hopped with generous amounts of Citra, Idaho 7, and Mosaic in their cryo-hopped versions. The new release pours a rich, cloudy lemon gold into the glass and is topped with a fluffy head of white foam. Citrus zest and ripe stone fruit create an enticing aroma that transitions into an impressive first sip. Dominant notes are peach and grapefruit, which combine with a pronounced bitterness to create a truly memorable beer experience. Three different malts also contribute to a robust, creamy, and velvety-smooth texture.
