As Frankfurters, the two brewers Joachim and Dominik certainly have a soft spot for apple wine in addition to their passion for good beer. The drink is one of the specialties of the Frankfurt area and is traditionally pressed in autumn when the apples are harvested. The fine wine is made from sour apple varieties and impresses with its unique combination of strong fruit and wonderfully crisp acidity.
Anyone who knows Flügge beers knows that this combination is also the specialty of the two brewers. Dominik and Joachim are true masters of sour beers and create wonderful compositions from beers and fruits fermented with Norwegian kveik yeast. The invention of an apple sour beer was therefore only a matter of time and now the time has finally come.
The fine beer from Flügge, fermented with Kveik and lactic acid bacteria, is accompanied by delicious apple cider. An extra portion of fresh apples and quinces from Obsthof André Stranz serve as an aromatic bed for the beer after the brewing process is complete, on which the noble drop is stored for a while. The result is a honey-colored beer with an enticing scent of sun-kissed apples and golden quinces. The taste is a sunny autumn day in liquid form: freshly harvested apples, aromatic quinces, fruity acidity, spicy yeast and a hint of tangy citrus.
