In part 2 of the Vertical Horizons series by Atelier Vrais, a tennis player with a racket in his hand hangs one-armed from the white baseline. The red tennis court is tilted vertically and seems to want to throw its user off. Behind the athlete in distress is an ambitious New England IPA, the taste of which is based on the hop varieties Citra and Cryo Pop. While Citra delivers a juicy citrus aroma with floral overtones, Cryo Pop contributes a range of fruit notes that provide both citrus notes and tropical fruit. The brew is called Servebot and flows into the glass in an opaque, thick yolk yellow. A densely porous crown of white foam sits on top and smells of oven-fresh oat biscuits, ripe tropical fruits, strong hops and a hint of vanilla.
The first sip is very similar: creamy and incredibly soft, notes of golden pineapple, freshly harvested wild berries, white grapes, juicy passion fruit and sunny stone fruits envelop the palate. The fruit spectacle brings with it a harmonious acidity that goes hand in hand with the summery sweetness. Velvety malt aromas round off the composition. The bitterness stays discreetly in the background and plays a subordinate role in this beer.
Servebot is a fruity, fresh beer pleasure that hides a surprising 6.7% alcohol content in its tasty nuances.
