In its Grainfog Series, Atelier Vrai explores a range of different rhetorical techniques. These are not common methods such as illustration through examples, allusions or comparisons, but rather clever tricks in leading a discussion that cleverly eliminate the opposing position. The straw man fallacy and filibuster are followed by the Gish gallop: a technique in which the debating opponent is flooded with a collection of made-up assumptions, lies and ridiculous statements. The opposing side is overwhelmed with so many theories, questions and arguments that it is not possible to refute or answer them all.
The beer of the same name is just as powerful as this rhetorical strategy. Gish Galopp is a triple New England IPA with an impressive 9.4% alcohol content, based on a triad of barley, wheat and oat malt and cold hopped with Citra and HBC 1019 hops. The powerful brew flows into the glass with a creamy, almost viscous texture and comes in an opaque, coppery, shimmering honey gold. A densely porous head of foam sits on the opaque body, which smells temptingly of juicy fruit and hearty grain. Gish Galopp enchants the palate with a smooth, silky consistency and tastes of ripe fruit, spicy resin and a hint of gently roasted malt.
