The New England IPA is the softer, more playful, and milder little brother of the traditional India Pale Ale. Typically heavily clouded, the NEIPA boasts a soft, smooth mouthfeel and eschews the harsh bitterness often associated with classic IPAs. Instead, it conjures up unadulterated notes of tropical fruit and juicy citrus on the tongue.
Blech.Brut's Retro Cheetah NEIPA is no exception: As part of the May series of finest IPAs, it delivers everything you'd expect from a representative of its style. The brew is refined with generous amounts of Bru-1, Idaho7 Hyperboost, and Riwaka hops and presents itself in an opaque lemon yellow in the glass. A fresh, floral scent rises from the fine-pored foam, making your mouth water. The first sip reveals a soft, palate-pleasing body and an explosion of intense flavors. Retro Cheetah tastes of golden, ripe mango, juicy white peach, and orange blossom, bringing an elegant floral touch to the table. A harmoniously balanced bitterness perfectly rounds out this fruity delight.
Sounds wonderful, doesn't it? However, caution is advised: For all its enchanting drinkability, NEIPA so cleverly disguises its impressive 6.2% alcohol content that you can't taste it at all, tempting you to drink more than you can handle. Dangerously delicious!
