The finest beer has been brewed in the time-honored walls of the Notre-Dame de Saint-Remy Abbey for more than 400 years. Given this centuries-old brewing history, the Tripel Extra is a real youngster as a new addition for 2020. The Belgian-inspired lager is made with two types of malt, select hops and a few extra ingredients: orange peel provides fruity freshness and effervescence, a selection of warm spices gives the brew a kick and the addition of sugar allows the yeast to ferment an extra round and increases the alcohol content to an impressive 8.0%.
The expressive beer flows into the glass in a coppery, shimmering honey gold and is crowned with a peak of fluffy, firm and densely porous foam. The orange peel and hops are already noticeable in the aroma: delicate fruit notes and a floral undertone play around the nose and make you want to take a sip. The taste is made up of mild grain, tangy citrus notes, sun-ripened orange, floral hops and hints of creamy caramel. A lovely spiciness and a crisp bitterness add the finishing touches to the enjoyment.
The brewery recommends serving the Tripel Extra between 6 and 9 degrees Celsius. This temperature allows the aroma to fully develop and guarantees maximum drinking pleasure.
