Dionysus is the Greco-Roman god of pleasure and is also called Bacchus. It stands for culinary delights, plenty of food and drink, fertility and excess. In his honor, fantastic feasts were held in ancient Rome, most of which got out of hand in every way. Everyone ate and drank to the point of fainting, engaged in wild orgies and illegal gambling, and abandoned all common sense and composure. These so-called Bacchanals regularly caused great scandals and certainly contributed to the moral and actual downfall of the Roman Empire. Today we are left with countless images and works of art that are based on this glorious time. And, of course, culinary delicacies — even if we no longer eat them in megalomaniacal manner and quantities.

A beer that would have gone wonderfully with the pomp and pomp of a bacchanalian is the Bacchus Framboise from Van Honsebrouk. The 5.0% strong fruit beer is brewed with fresh raspberry juice and not only has a fabulous cherry red colour, but also an incomparably summery taste.
