The cherry is a summer fruit that can be used in many different ways. You can bake delicious cakes and tarts from it, make deep red jam from it, press it into juice, pick it fresh from the tree and enjoy it straight away, refine hearty sauces for roasts and game with it, enhance your muesli with it, make ice cream from it or prepare desserts with it. In Belgium, the cherry is also used to brew the finest cherry beer. This unusual style is called Kriek and has a long tradition there.
Timmermans is a specialist in Kriek, Lambics and fruit beers: The brewery from the Belgian Pajottenland has made such beers its speciality and offers us a wide range of different brews in this category. Their Kriek is a classic Lambic blended from various barrel-aged brews with a slim 4.0% alcohol content, which has been flavoured with a whole truckload of freshly harvested cherries and black pepper.
The cherry-red beauty is adorned with a creamy crown of pink foam and smells as if you were standing under the heavily laden branches of a cherry tree. The powerful fruitiness continues on the first sip and dominates the entire drinking experience: juicy cherry floods the mouth, an exquisite hint of pepper delivers the subtlest spiciness and an elegant spiciness that forms a wonderful contrast to the summery sweetness of the cherry.
