There’s news from the Netherlands!
The Dutch brewery Emelisse, which according to ratebeer.com is one of the best in the world, has recently had a pair of siblings in its range. Pink Sister and her Yellow Brother are a dynamic duo with a whole load of taste in their luggage. After the first attempt at a sour beer was so successful, the creative brewers now dare to try two sour beer again. Pink Sister and Yellow Brother are so-called Kettle Sours and we especially like them on warm days because they are wonderfully refreshing and light.
Pink Sister is a fruity sour beer with 5.5% alcohol content and receives both the magnificent color and the berry character from the use of fresh forest berries. The sweet and sour beer presents itself in a deep golden amber tone in the glass and shines copper when exposed to light. A fleeting crown of white foam sits enthroned on the beer and gives off a fine scent of freshly harvested forest berries with a dollop of cream yogurt. The initial taste reveals the wonderfully sour character of this beer and is refreshing from the first drop. The taste of ripe forest berries flatters the tongue with fresh acidity and a mild sweetness. A touch of bitterness elegantly rounds off the play of aromas.
