May we introduce you to Téma? Téma is a stately cow in creamy milk white with dappled black spots. She has two stately horns on her head, two yellow tags adorn her fluffy ears and her brown, deep eyes look straight into our own eyes from the label of the beer named after her. We don’t know what significance the majestic animal has for the team at Gekko Brewery, but they have dedicated a fine New England IPA to her and immortalized her in an idyllic painting on the label.
Téma la Vache (Téma the cow in German and the full title of this brew) brings a lively 6.5% alcohol content to the table and is artfully hopped with the two hop varieties Ekuanot and Mosaic. The beer goes through the whirlpool with hop addition, is mixed with whole cones and then double cold hopped. At the end of this intensive process there is a red-blond beer with strong turbidity, airy foam and a magnificent aroma. The nose and palate are enchanted by a whole cocktail of different fruits. A combination of orange, ripe mango, juicy mandarin, pink grapefruit and tropical melon mixes with hoppy pine resin and a crisp bitterness to create an olfactory and culinary delight.
We raise our glasses to Téma the cow and hope that she is currently grazing happily in a green pasture.
