The Red IPA is an evolution of the American India Pale Ale that emerged just over five years ago. It is characterized by its bright red color, which is usually the result of using strong malts. In the case of the Cherry Red IPA from Sakiškių alus, there was another ingredient that pushed the copper tone: cherries!
However, the deep red summer fruits were not only used for their colour. The makers of the beer, a team consisting of the brewers from Sakiškių alus and the Irish brewery Hopfully Brewing from Waterford, liked how perfectly the fruity sweetness of the fruit harmonizes with the maltiness of the beer. A hand-picked selection of the finest hop varieties was used to enhance the effect. HBC 630, Barbe Rouge and Idaho Gem bring a wonderful sparkle to the brew and create a complex, multi-layered flavor profile that goes perfectly with the cherry.
The Cherry Red IPA flows into the glass in a deep maroon color and is crowned with a hand’s breadth of ivory foam. Scent and taste are characterized by strong cherries, soft cereal notes, creamy caramel and fresh hops. Sweet and fruity acidity appear in perfect balance on the tongue and make this unusual IPA a real treat!
