Traditionally (at least in the first ten years of life) you will find nuts, tangerines and chocolate in your Santa boot. On behalf of the red-coated benefactor, the own parents fill the previously polished shoes with treats or toys and ring in the Advent season with a small highlight.
At some point you no longer believe in St. Nicholas and the custom comes to an end for the time being. Most don’t pick it up again until they have children of their own. We think that’s a shame!
