Although there is a popular saying, “Beer on wine, let it go,” we are not aware of any wisdom that forbids mixing beer and wine. Nevertheless, you shouldn’t just mix a strange cocktail from a pint and a wheat. We would much rather let the professionals get to work!
Master brewer David Hertl comes from a family of winemakers and has already created several creations that combine the best of both worlds. The exceptional brewer knows how to combine the magic of grapes with the magic of hops like no other. His latest brew was created in collaboration with Markus from the Meier Weinerlebnis winery in Ulsenheim. The winemaker brought a fine Riesling into the brewhouse and David conjured up a so-called Riesling Sour Ale from it. Their Saurer Franke has an impressive 7.0% alcohol content and combines the juicy acidity of white grapes with full-bodied grains and noble hops. In contrast to conventional sour beers, this brew is not carbonated, but instead envelops the tongue with the same silky texture as a white wine.
The wine used is of the highest quality and is made from grapes that have been cultivated according to the philosophy of organic farming, free of artificial fertilizers and pollutants. Good for the soil, good for the insects and good for you!
