Friends are people we can rely on. People with whom we can steal horses, chat for hours, go on vacation, who we can enlist in a pinch, who hold up a mirror to us, straighten our heads, and help us move, for whom we wholeheartedly wish the best, with whom we would love to spend all our time, with whom we talk about life's big and small things, and with whom we brew beer. At least, that's what master brewers do when they form friendships.
An international friendship has developed between the staff of the Kundmüller Brewery and the Oldskool Brewery from the Netherlands: Dennis Kort, the heart and soul behind the Eindhoven Drinkers Pub and the small Oldskool Brewery, is a long-time regular at the Weiherer beer garden and became friends with the team over a cold beer or two.
Together with the brewer and award-winning master beer sommelier, the Kundmüller Brewery recently launched a collaboration and created a magnificent brew. The Weiherer / Oldskool Rauchweizen boasts a steady 5.3% ABV and flows into the glass with a beautiful peach-gold hue. Dense yeast veils cloud the brew and lend it a robust spiciness that pairs wonderfully with the interplay of aromas of ripe banana, warm clove, and intense smoke.
