In the far north, Pilsner is the favorite drink. People appreciate the fresh bitterness and straightforward character of this classic beer, and like its unpretentious straightforwardness. In the south, however, people reach for a Hellen when a thirst for beer threatens. The Hellen is less austere and somewhat more drinkable than the Pils.
The councilors don't judge and provide the right beer for every taste - no matter whether you come from the coast or the mountains.
In addition to their excellent Ratsherrn Pilsener, the Hamburg-based brewery also offers a fine Helles (light beer) in its range. This fresh brew is based on Pilsener and caramel malt. It is flavored with Callista and Mistral hops, which, in addition to a crisp bitterness, conjure up wonderful notes of freshly plucked hop cones, sun-ripened lemon, and mountain meadow. In contrast to the Bavarian Helles, this Nordic version is somewhat more hoppy, while the grain remains discreetly in the background. The brew flows into the glass in a clear, copper-red amber gold and forms a fluffy head of white foam. The aroma and flavor are a blend of citrus zest, floral hops, freshly mown grass, creamy honey, and a hint of gently roasted malt.
The Ratsherrn Helle is a mild, balanced and drinkable representative of his style.
