Before the THC-containing variants of hemp fell into disrepute, industrial hemp was a widespread plant in Germany and the world. The fibers were used in the production of textiles as well as ropes and ropes. Hemp oil was made from the seeds, and hemp was and is used in the natural insulation of buildings.
For some time now, the useful and medicinal plant has been used again and is inspiring not only doctors and builders but also completely different industries: breweries, for example. The Weissenohe monastery brewery is setting a good example and has recently introduced a mixed beer drink in its range that, in addition to the usual suspects, also contains a portion of hemp oil. The Cannabis Club Sud is brewed with raw materials from organic farming: both the barley and the hops are subject to Bioland’s strict specifications, and the industrial hemp comes from organic farming. The good full beer from the Weissenohe monastery brewery is mixed with essential hemp oil, giving it its finely bitter, slightly lemony taste.
The Cannabis Club Sud flows into the glass in a deep golden color and is crowned with a good amount of airy, white foam. A fine scent of soft malt rises from the almost clear beer, which is combined with a strong bitter hop aroma and an unmistakable hemp note in the nose. The first taste follows the smell: bready malt starts before the hops take over with notes of green herbs, fresh citrus fruit and wonderful bitterness. The hemp oil gives the beer its very own character and that certain something.
