In Norse mythology, the world tree Yggdrasil is protected by a wise guardian. The being who holds his protective hand over the ash tree is called Mímir and symbolizes knowledge and experience. The wellspring of wisdom, which according to legend flows from beneath the roots of Yggdrasil, is named after him, and he is worshipped by both humans and gods. He invites everyone to draw from his well, but his generosity comes at a price. Odin, the father of all gods and the highest authority of the Norse deities, gave up an eye to benefit from Mímir's knowledge. It was also Odin who gathered Mímir's head and carried it with him after he was beheaded in battle.
Equally fascinating as this story is the beery homage to Mírmir from the Wacken brewery: The brewery from the town of the same name harbors a passion for the heroes of Norse mythology and channels this into delicious beer creations. Mírmir's Hop Wisdom is a cold-hopped wheat beer that boasts a pleasantly light 5.1% alcohol content and is refined with a range of intensely flavored American aroma hops.
This hazy, amber-golden delight combines classic wheat aromas with a rich hop kick: oven-fresh banana bread, sun-ripened grain, gentle caramel notes, spicy clove, zesty citrus hints, and fruity hops. A true thirst quencher!
