Odin is a god from Norse mythology who, in the sagas and legends surrounding him, rides an eight-legged horse. This majestic animal is named Sleipnir and possesses the ability to glide over land, water, and through the air, over rough terrain. Its name derives from this ability and simultaneously symbolizes the lightning-fast speed attributed to it. This unusual horse represents powerful elegance, calmness in the storm, and profound trust.
The Wacken Brewery, from the town of the same name, harbors a fascination for the heroes and deities of Norse mythology and expresses its admiration through beery tributes. Sleipnis, too, has been given a delicious memorial. His drink is a Helles, affectionately dubbed the "quick Helles" by the team. This bottom-fermented lager is based on the classic Helles from Bavaria and Franconia and delivers a harmonious balance of robust malt and spicy hops to the palate.
In the glass, the brew appears a delicately cloudy copper-gold with a magnificent head of dense, ivory-colored foam. The aroma of freshly baked bread mingles with lemon and mandarin. On the palate, Sleipnir impresses with fine grain notes, citrusy hints, and a light, mildly bitter body.
