Zumo is the Spanish word for juice and is a brand new hop variety that comes closer to the juice of freshly pressed citrus fruits than any hop before it. The green gold was bred by the hop farmers of the Segal Ranch in the Yakima Valley and has been a hit. Craft breweries all over the world have eagerly pounced on the new variety and immediately conjured up the most delicious beer creations. The young hop is characterized by its intense citrus aroma and delivers notes of lime, orange, lemon and all kinds of other tangy, fresh citrus fruits.
Stone Brewing was one of the first to take advantage of Zumo. The team from California has a good sense of the zeitgeist and a knack for creating powerful IPAs. Zumology is their attempt to coax the most subtle of flavor nuances out of hops. The brewers succeeded with a clever move: by cleverly using another type of hop, they were able to intensify the aroma of Zumo. The result is a powerful India Pale Ale with 7.5% alcohol content, an impressive 35 bitter units and a stunning citrus character.
Zumology flows into the glass in a warm honey gold. The scent and taste are a captivating composition of sun-ripened orange, pink grapefruit, exotic lemongrass and spicy pine resin. Wonderfully hoppy, wonderfully fresh and extremely citrusy!
