Cinnamon rolls and beer are two delicacies that are rarely associated with each other. Sudden Death Brewing has dared the impossible and designed a crazy beer with (natural!) cinnamon roll flavor.
Mr. Cinnamon Bun is a delicious member of Sudden Death Brewing's new dessert line. The guys from Timmendorfer Strand have released a whole range of sweet beers that taste like liquid desserts. Mr. Cinnamon Bun is an Imperial Oatmeal Stout with oat flakes, cinnamon rolls and a touch of lactose that gives the beer its wonderful creaminess.
For conservative friends of barley juice, this beer may be a red flag. It certainly doesn't comply with the Bavarian Purity Law and tastes very different to a Pilsner or Weizen. But in times of craft beer and the like, the purity law no longer necessarily has to be the end point of all creativity. America showed us how to do it and many German brewers are enthusiastically jumping on the bandwagon: Beer can be creative and different! In any case, the guys behind Sudden Death Brewing who concocted this beer are creative and different.
The beer polarizes, that's for sure. Even though the rise of craft beer has broadened the horizons of most beer drinkers, cinnamon roll flavoring is still an unusual ingredient.
