With a series of new, freshly interpreted India Pale Ales, Orca Brau is in the mood for summer and defies all other seasons and all weathers with a great mood, creamy consistency and a plus of fresh fruit. The new beers are called Smoothie IPAs and are basically a delicious mixture of hopped, resinous, crispy bitter beer and a fine smoothie made from aromatic fruits. It is important to them that the essence of the India Pale Ale is not lost in all the fruit - a perfect harmony of beer and fruit cocktail is the goal, which was achieved with flying colors.
A tasty representative of this series is Choose Happy, a 7.4% smoothie IPA brewed with barley, wheat and oat malt, mango, sour cherries and lactose. The latter is responsible for the wonderfully non-slip, velvety-soft texture and also gives the beer a nice sweetness. After the beer has been dry hopped with Mosaic and Citra hops, cherries and mango join in generous quantities in the storage tank and enrich the notes of green hops, spicy pine resin and tangy citrus fruit with a full load of summer.
Choose Happy is a dessert in liquid form and scores with a creamy mouthfeel, soft sweetness, juicy fruit and the pointed bitterness of a well-done India Pale Ale.
