Orca Brau is daring a German-Canadian fusion with its latest creation: Canadian Goose is a Gose with a Canadian touch. Gose is a traditional sour beer from the Harz region, probably named after one of its ingredients. The specialty used to be made with brewing water from the Gose river and was probably named after it. The classic has established itself throughout northeastern Germany and is now also a favorite of craft brewers.
Felix vom Endt and his team have come up with a very modern version and given the drink, which is usually refined with salt and coriander, a whole new flavor. The salt was retained, but the herb was replaced with blackcurrant, tonka bean and maple syrup. This exotic mixture seems a bit wild at first glance, but it comes together to form a wonderfully drinkable whole and harmonizes perfectly with the natural acidity of the Gose.
The densely cloudy beer presents itself in a cheerful berry tone in the glass and is decorated with a delicate pink head of foam. The scent and taste form a summery symphony that gives us notes of freshly harvested currants, nutty, toffee and vanilla hints of tonka beans and the smoky sweetness of maple syrup. The salt provides the finishing touch and elegantly rounds off the character.
