Orca's single malt is a beer specialty that bridges worlds. This festive beer with its delightful whiskey notes not only creates a connection between beer and spirits, but also intertwines the secular and the religious.
This brew is a collaboration between Nuremberg's Orca Brewery and the local St. Egidien Church. This earthly-heavenly partnership draws on the long history St. Egidien Church shares with Scotland. The modern church and the Franconian craft brewery have conceived a beer that is festive, vibrant, and full-bodied. The brew gains a special touch and a spicy depth from being matured on oak chips after the brewing process is complete. These chips are previously soaked in whiskey from Lindores Abbey in Scotland, delivering a luxurious range of intense aromas.
Single malt pours into the glass a clear copper-gold, crowned with a head of creamy, white foam. Aromas of fine whiskey, wood, and a hint of peat tickle the nose. The first sip continues this initial impression, caressing the palate with a symphony of robust malt, warm spices, melting caramel, vanilla, the finest whiskey, and oak. A robust 5.5% alcohol completes the experience, contributing a warmth that spreads throughout body and soul. A true delight!
