In addition to the natural flora and fauna that are at home in mountains, most mountainous regions of the world have a whole host of stories and legends that revolve around mystical mythical creatures and monstrous creatures. In North America, there are always people who claim to have seen Bigfoot, in Ireland and Scotland, elves and goblins are said to be up to mischief, ogres are said to live in swamps, dwarves and mountain spirits are said to live in mountain caves, will-o’-the-wisps are said to wander through moors and lure people to their doom, in the deep forests of Tyrol you could come across fangs and around Mount St. Helen in the United States, with a bit of luck (or bad luck?), you might come across the Batsquatch. The latter is a hybrid of a Sasquatch and a bat that lives in the volcanic region and has been sighted by hikers from time to time since the 1980s.
The Batsquatch is also the namesake of a fine beer from Rogue Ales. The beer monument to the shy mythical creature is a Hazy India Pale Ale with a lively 6.7% alcohol content and an impressive 54 bitterness units. The strong bitterness is offset by a harmonious combination of juicy, tropical fruit, wheat and oats. The densely cloudy brew tastes of ripe stone fruit, sun-kissed orange, tangy mandarin and exotic passion fruit.
