As with most products, the quality of beer depends on the quality of the individual raw materials. Hardly anyone takes this fact as seriously as the Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen from Belgium. The brewery works with a whole range of agricultural companies in the region and has even set up the Pajot Cereal Collective to source excellent brewing grain. It is therefore no surprise that around half of the hops used come from Belgian hop gardens and the sour cherries for the Oude Kriek grew on Belgian soil. So many of the deep red fruits were used for the cherry beer that in the end there were around 350 grams of cherries per liter of barley juice.
You can not only taste the cherries, you can see and smell them too: The ruby-red beer with a delicate pink foam has an intense aroma of fully ripe, juicy cherries, which combine with hints of lemon and oak on the nose. The first sip is dry like a fine red wine and has the same spicy notes of earthy wood, dark grapes and leather. The play of aromas is completed by full-bodied sour cherries, floral hops, funky yeast and light malt. A fruity acidity underlines the beer pleasure and forms a sour finish that conjures up cherry and citrus notes on the tongue and makes you want another bottle.
We also offer this exquisite beer in organic form .
