The quality of the raw materials that Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen uses to make its beers has always been excellent, but in recent years the brewery has surpassed itself and developed a range of brews that are produced using ingredients from controlled organic farming. Most of the hops, a lot of the grain and most of the fruit used come from the region, are hand-picked with the utmost care and processed with attention to detail.
The Cuvée Armand & Gaston is one of the organic beers in the range. 60% of the grain used grew in Pajottenland, the home of the brewery. The brew is a marriage of seven different brews that were matured in six different barrels. Several components were stored for two or three years before being selected for the cuvée. The finished beer presents itself in a coppery shimmering honey gold and is crowned with a fleeting crown of airy foam. An olfactory symphony of funky yeast, green apples, citrus zest, white grapes and pale malt tickles the nose and makes you want to take a sip. The taste is dominated by a fruity acidity and brings a harmonious interplay of gentle grain, green apple, vineyard peach, lemon peel, light grapes, spicy oak and floral hops to the tongue.
