From the tree to the bottle - this is how we love sustainability!
The story behind this beer is a very modern one: in the age of recycling and sustainability, the Lowlander team had an excellent idea. Year after year, countless trees have to lose their lives in the name of Christmas festivities. Once the magic is over, the needle-studded companions are simply disposed of. What a waste! The resourceful brewers thought so too and launched the “Tree to Table” campaign. A nationwide announcement resulted in numerous families donating their trees after the holidays. The old spruce trees were stripped of their needles using a complex process. Over 200 kilograms of spruce needles were obtained in this way. The prickly green was brewed into the beer along with aromatic juniper berries. The result is a crisp, light IPA that delights with wonderfully spicy spruce notes and a citrus-fresh twist.
The Winter IPA flows into the glass in the color of pale gold and has minimal cloudiness. The beer is crowned with an airy, white foam and impresses with a fine aromatic potpourri. On the nose, light malt meets tangy lemon, freshly cut herbs, spicy juniper and strong spruce resin. The initial taste reveals a medium-weight body with gentle carbonation. Pleasantly sweet and wonderfully bitter flavors of malt, tart grapefruit, fresh herbs and spicy spruce resin present themselves on the tongue. A fine note of juniper rounds off the play of aromas.
An unusual and highly recommended winter beer!
