Sometimes less is more. The Garage Beer brewery from Barcelona has opted for simplicity and restraint with this creation – at least at first glance. Ocata comes in a silver can with a midnight-black label. A single lightning bolt adorns the front, along with the name, brewery, and beer style. Nothing else. But don’t let the understated exterior fool you: behind the deliberately casual design lies an exceptionally delicious beer.
Ocata puts the Mosaic and Palisade hop varieties in the spotlight, uniting them in perfect harmony. Mosaic is represented by juicy mango and freshly harvested blueberry, while the somewhat lesser-known Palisade variety contributes gentle floral notes, zesty citrus, herbs, and freshly cut grass to the aromatic profile. On the palate, the hoppy composition meets a velvety-smooth, caressing texture, thanks to barley malt, wheat, and oats. This trio of grains also provides a stable body and supports the hop explosion with a mild base. The Barcelona IPA pours into the glass a gently hazy, lemonade-gold color, topped with an airy head of fleeting white foam.
Ocata is delicious on its own, but can also be fabulously combined with strong cheeses, spicy dishes or fruity desserts.
