In the face of red ales that have matured for years , Barleywines refined in wine barrels and Imperial stouts refined with fiery chilies, cocoa nibs and coffee beans , a simple West Coast IPA sounds almost plain, but don’t be fooled: the brewers at the Greek brewery Kykao use the same for each of their creations sophistication and artistry. Her magic is in every brew, no matter if it is very complicated and unconventional or not.
Inspired by the Indian Pale Ales of the American West Coast, Kykao has created a range of the finest West Coast IPAs. Each new beer is based on the previous one and is a bit rounder, smoother and more successful than its predecessor. The team is now quite proud of the result: their dry-hopped West Coast IPA is made with the varieties Talus, Citra, Sabro and Cashmere and is filled to the brim with fruity notes and floral hops. The brew has an incredible 90 bitterness and balances this harsh trait with a soothing abundance of fruit. The trained palate tastes peach, melon, tangerine, coconut, mango and candied fruit that balance the bitterness beautifully. The full 7.0% alcohol content gives the beer body and a pleasant warmth.
West coast is west coast, this West Coast IPA from the west coast of Greece proves it.
