When the brewery in Weiher opened its doors exactly 150 years ago, there was only one beer in the range. The company's founding father was Michael Bayer, who dared to take the leap into independence and founded his own brewery in 1874. He supplied the people of the area with his hand-brewed brew, which was only brewed in winter due to a lack of refrigeration. The property had belonged to his family for almost a hundred years before he decided to take this step. Wine was grown and pressed on the estate. It is assumed that there was also a small pub where the wine was served. The brewery replaced the wine press and was continued by his descendants after Michael's death. The Kundmüller family came into play in 1964: Anna, one of Michael's great-great-great granddaughters, married the farmer Erwin Kundmüller and together they ran the brewery and the farm. Today, the couple's two sons are at the helm of the company. Roland and Oswald have taken over the reins from their parents and are continuing the success story.
There is now much more than just one type of beer and, thanks to electric cooling, brewing takes place all year round. In June 2024, the family celebrated the 150th anniversary of their brewery and printed great T-shirts to mark the festive occasion.
