The St. Georgen Bräu from Buttenheim is located in the heart of Franconia and represents the beer culture of its homeland with a sophisticated range of hand-crafted beers. In the brewery’s beer garden you can enjoy homemade specialties of Franconian cuisine and with the brewery’s own hop garden, the St. Georgen Bräu continues the long tradition of hop cultivation in Franconia. The show garden not only gives visitors the opportunity to experience the hop plant with all their senses, it also produces a considerable amount of fresh hop cones every year. From this green gold, the brewery makes its Buttenheimer Hopfenzupfer every year, a full-bodied festival beer that celebrates hops in all their glory. The Spalter Select variety is grown in the brewery’s hop garden and combined for the brew with the Hallertauer Tradition aroma hops, crystal-clear spring water from the brewery’s own spring and Franconian malt.
The Buttenheimer Hopfenzupfer flows into the glass in a shiny, sun-gold color and smells of stone fruits, meadow herbs, freshly harvested hop cones and toffee. The full-bodied first sip reveals a powerful body with a good 5.6% alcohol content and an appealing taste profile that consists of ripe apples, orange marmalade, tenderly melting caramel, lemony hops, spicy herbs and hearty grain. A floral bitterness completes the enjoyment and makes you want more.
