Although the Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan’s illustrious range includes numerous trophy hunters and crowd favorites, one brew is the undisputed leader: the light Hefeweißbier from the Freising brewers is just as highly decorated as their Helles or the Weizenbock Vitus and, according to the brewery itself, the best-known beer in its repertoire.
The success of this golden wheat beer is based on almost a thousand years of brewing experience. Brewing operations on the Weihenstephaner Berg began in 1040 and have ensured that the brewery has accumulated an incomparable wealth of valuable brewing experience. Hardly anyone knows how to handle hops, malt and yeast better than the Weihenstephan brewing team.
You can taste their skills and expertise in every sip: the light wheat beer presents us with the classic wheat aroma in a more perfect form and tastes of creamy banana, warm, spicy cloves, hearty grain and gentle hops. The naturally cloudy appearance, the firm, fine-pored foam and the scent of freshly baked banana bread round off the beer enjoyment and make the wheat beer a pleasure for all the senses. Traditionally, you eat a couple of white sausages with the wheat beer, but we combine the style unconventionally and like to eat spicy food with it. A green Thai curry with chicken and vegetables or burritos with a generous amount of chili taste wonderful with the creamy wheat beer.
