Die Toten Hosen are legends in the German music world and are deeply rooted in the city of Düsseldorf. Düsseldorf is the hometown of the band members and the origin of their work. It is therefore no wonder that they have teamed up with the original Düsseldorf brewery Uerige for their current band beer. The owner of the Uerige top-fermenting brewery is the Schnitzler family, who have already drunk a beer or two with their pants on.
In the planning phase of the collaboration, the Altbier was under discussion: Since both the band and the brewery come from Düsseldorf and the typical beer from this city is the Altbier, this was initially the favorite. Nevertheless, a decision was made against it. The choice would be too obvious and it would be more exciting to use a completely different beer style and give it a Düsseldorfer-Hosen twist. No sooner said than done: The wild bunch chose the Helle, which was actually located in Bavaria, and reinterpreted the classic beer in Toter Hosen style. The aim was to provoke simplicity and clarity. In times of multi-ingredient, complex craft beers, the reflection on the roots of beer attracts attention and is definitely something special.
