Tiger is not only an absolute classic in Asia. The masterpiece of the Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore is almost 100 years old and is still as modern and timeless as few others. The branding of the popular beer has changed several times in the past, but the tiger under the stylized palm tree has remained the same.
The striped big cat used to be found in the shade of the so-called tree of travelers. This wide-spread palm tree got its name from a practical feature: the rainwater collects in the long stems of the palm fans and used to be a savior for thirsty travelers in times of need. In addition, the palm tree grows in a specific direction and can be used to identify the cardinal points. After the soldiers of the Malaya Royal Air Force made tiger beer their favorite drink, the tiger under the travelers tree was also found in their insignia.
We can understand the enthusiasm for the Asian-inspired lager beer: the crystal-clear brew in sunny gold scores with a full-bodied and a crisp, straightforward character. Scent and taste are characterized by a bouquet of light grain, creamy honey, freshly mown grass, floral hops and a pointed bitterness. The lager is refreshing and tasty.
