In the course of a particularly festive collaboration, the Nuremberg Orca Brau has teamed up with the South Tyrolean brewery Guggenbräu and the legendary Bierdoktor. What makes the collaboration so festive is the occasion: the jointly developed beer appeared on time for the Orcas Brewery Festival and crowned the 1st Bavarian wheat beer summit, which took place as part of the event.
The Guggenbräu is at home in Bozen. Matthias brews his wonderful beer on a farm high above the city. The raw materials for his creations come from the family’s own fields around the Alm. For several years, seven different hops and different types of grain have been growing on the steep slopes. All the ingredients for the beer come from our own cultivation and Matthias also brought grain from his fields with him for the collaboration with Orca. He contributed Franconian barley and Einkornmalz, both historical varieties, to the Festweissen with the beautiful name of “Gipfelglück”. As with Weissbier for Future 2, the Schneider Weisse brewery once again supplied the yeast and the self-proclaimed beer doctor Dr. Johannes Sauer added his two cents.
At the end of the joint effort there is a strong wheat that was hopped with the Hallertauer Cascade and Mandarina Bavaria hop varieties. The brew has an alcohol content of 6.2% and a harmonious combination of hoppy tartness, light-footed spiciness and fruity sweetness.
