Nuremberg is a metropolis that borders the area with the highest concentration of breweries in the world. The city is the second largest city in the Free State of Bavaria after Munich and is located in a lively center of Franconian brewing culture. Beer has been brewed here for more than a millennium and nowhere else do people enjoy drinking barley juice as much as they do here. There is a wide selection of typical beer specialties that go perfectly with the local cuisine. One of these is bock beer, which is brewed on various occasions throughout the year. Most breweries have a bock that is tapped in the fall and one that ushers in the spring.
As a craft beer brewery, Orca-Brau from Nuremberg previously didn’t have Bock in its range, but now they are bridging the gap between tradition and modernity: their organic Bock will be served every March in the future and combines traditional brewing art with a comparatively young concept. The strong beer is based on a classic recipe and is made with raw materials from controlled organic farming.
The brew brings a good 7.0% alcohol content to the table and flows into the glass in a warm copper red. A honey-yellow head of foam sits on top of the clear body and smells of roasted malt. Orcas Bio Bock tastes of freshly baked biscuits, toffee, dried fruits and strong hops. Around!
