The English term "dank" is actually used to describe damp, musty cellars. In colloquial language, however, the word has another meaning: it is used to describe the quality of cannabis. When a flower bud is rich in trichomes and therefore particularly potent and resinous, it is admiringly called "dank".
We’re telling you this here because the Orca brewery from Nuremberg has chosen exactly this term for its latest beer. Tastes like... is a single hop India Pale Ale that was cold-hopped with the Strata hop variety and, according to the brewery, tastes quite "dank". Because hops and cannabis belong to the same plant family, this comparison is not far-fetched.
Tastes like… is characterized by its straightforward, straightforward character. The grains barley and wheat provide Strata with a mild, soft stage and ensure that the flavor facets of the hops can develop undisturbed. Strata delivers a wealth of fruity notes that taste predominantly of sun-kissed strawberries and bring hints of wild berries, grapefruit and passion fruit into the glass. With masterful skill, the team at Orca Brau has worked out the entire range of Strata and conjured it into the beer.
Felix says “tastes like your favorite strawberry weed strain” and we have a whole range of equivalent strains in mind that taste very similar to Strata.
