The Günther Bräu in Burgkunstadt has been brewing down-to-earth beers for almost 185 years and has been run by the Günther family from the very beginning. Their core range of Franconian and Bavarian classics complements a number of seasonal specialties, including the pale bock. As is customary in Franconia, strong beer is brewed twice a year. In spring, the Maibock is served and in autumn the winter bocks are tapped.
The light bock beer is brewed in early summer and is then allowed to develop its aroma in peace. It is stored in the cellar for three months before being released for sale in October. This particularly long maturation period creates a well-rounded, balanced and complex character, which is complemented by a powerful 7.5% alcohol content. A select selection of malts and a high original wort content make the light bock a full-bodied pleasure for the colder season.
Günther’s delicacy flows into the glass in clear, sun-gold color and piles up an airy foam head with coarse pores. On the nose, soft honey notes meet hearty malt and lemony notes - a combination that makes you want to try it. The first sip is full-bodied and lies on the tongue with grain notes, creamy caramel and delicate hop undertones. The 7.5% alcohol content contributes a pleasant warmth.
