Brewing in Belgium is not - and never has been - bound by the strict rules of the Bavarian Purity Law, so the country has developed its own unique beer language. The traditional Belgian beer styles differ greatly from those of other European countries and stand out due to their complexity, intensity and, not least, their unconventional ingredients. Fruit found its way into European brewhouses as part of the craft beer movement, but it has been brewed with in Belgium for a long time. Specialties such as Kriek or Framboise are an integral part of the Belgian beer landscape and have been for quite some time.

Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen has a range of different lambics with fruit in its range, including Braambes, a brew with blackberries. The berry-flavored delight is based on a beer that was made from lambics that had been aged for different lengths of time. The oldest of these was stored in an oak barrel for four years before being used to make Braambes. The mixture was given a blackberry flavor by maceration: the lambic was stored on the midnight black fruits for four months.

3 Fonteinen Braambes flows into the glass in a strong fawn color with a hint of berry red and is crowned with a delicate veil of foam. The aroma and taste are composed of intense blackberry notes, earthy herbs, spicy wooden barrel, leather, vanilla and funky yeast.
