Emperor's Brewery is known for its opulent, complex beer creations, where high-quality ingredients and meticulous care take center stage. Alongside powerful porters and multifaceted stouts, barrel-aged specialties are also a core part of their portfolio. The iconic science-fiction design may appear martial at first glance, but inside the glass await flavorful heavyweights that invite contemplative tranquility rather than interstellar battles.
With the barrel-aged version of Executor , the brewery elevates its already impressive Imperial Stout to a new level. After brewing, the beer was allowed to rest for a full twelve months in barrels previously used for fine Willet Rye Whiskey. This extended maturation period lends the robust brew additional depth and elegant complexity. The alcohol content of 12.6% blends seamlessly into the overall profile.
In the glass, Executor is jet black with a delicate, hazelnut-colored head. The bouquet is enhanced by subtle whiskey notes: vanilla, oak, and a hint of spice meld with chocolate cake, coffee, and caramelized sugar. On the palate, a rich, velvety body unfolds. Roasted malt, cocoa, honey, and coconut mingle with warm rye whiskey aromas, a touch of pepper, and dry wood nuances. Barrel aging tempers the sweetness, deepens the roasted flavors, and ensures a long, warming finish with a subtly bitter balance.
A majestic delight with a lasting impression.
