Usually, craft brewers decide to brew cuckoo when they are just beginning their career and do not yet have the financial means for their own brewing system. Some also choose this form of brewing as a permanent condition because they value the exchange with colleagues and like to travel in world history. It was completely different with the team at Ten Men Brewery: The brewery has had its own brewing system since 2018 and has been brewing in its own four walls for the last few years. But now they are cuckoo brewers and not of their own free will. When Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, the brewery was seized right in the first days of the war. The team had to flee and are now forced to rely on the hospitality of other breweries.
However, this terrible circumstance does not stop the brewers from continuing to do their thing.
A classic from the brewery is their Ten Men IPA. The creation is brewed in the style of a West Coast IPA and is unfiltered and unpasteurized. A truckload of Amarillo, Citra and Simcoe hops gives the beer its fruity aroma and stable bitterness. The Ten Men IPA tastes of citrus fruit, spicy pine resin, freshly cut herbs, light malt and green hop cones.
