The craft beer movement has made brewmasters more accessible. They are no longer hidden in the brewhouse and behind the kettles day and night. Nowadays, you can find the ladies and gentlemen of the trade at trade fairs, in taprooms, you can get to know them on brewery tours and look over their shoulders as they work, you can hear them talk about their profession in interviews and podcasts, and recently you can even see them taking a shower.
David Hertl (who else but Franconia’s craziest brewmaster?) and his colleague Christian Zwanzger are particularly approachable: In the advertising campaign for their latest collaboration, the two can be seen in the shower. The friends don’t just shower together, they also drink a beer - their shower beer!
With their clever marketing, the two exceptional brewers are tapping into a trend that has been circulating on the Internet for some time. People from all over the world are posting (more or less youth-friendly) photos of themselves and their favorite beer in the shower. David and Christian’s shower beer can already be found in some of these pictures and is a hopped green hop lager that tastes great before, after and under the shower. The collaboration brew has a moderate 4.9% alcohol content in the glass and tastes of grassy hops, tangy citrus fruit and a whole range of different tropical fruits.
