David Hertl is a brewmaster from a sleepy Franconian village who, despite his remote location, is always up-to-date when it comes to beer. We'd even go a step further: This exceptional brewer is usually a step ahead of the trends and has a keen sense for which innovations will next shake up the beer scene. It's therefore no surprise that an alcohol-free India Pale Ale has now been added to his portfolio.
David, the Hoptimist, is a hop-forward brew that, with less than 0.5% alcohol, is remarkably light and airy. The balancing factor is its abundance of flavor: the brew is dry-hopped with Simcoe and Hüll Melon hops, delivering a whole spectrum of fruity, tropical, and citrusy notes to the glass. This light-bodied beer presents itself in a shimmering, coppery honey gold and is topped with a generous head of creamy, white foam. Aromas of tropical fruit invite the first sip. The taste reveals a delicious delight, bringing hints of juicy honeydew melon, ripe strawberries, sun-drenched citrus fruits, and all manner of tropical fruits to the tongue. A clear, well-placed bitterness perfectly balances the fruit explosion.
Another bullseye from Hertl and an excellent option for those who can occasionally do without spinning!
