Although we love drinking light beers, we also like to drink dark beers every now and then. We appreciate the strong roasted aromas, the firm consistency, the dark elegance and the soft sweetness of the classic dark beers.
The Schlossbrauerei Kaltenberg produces a traditional representative of this style, which is brewed in a copper brew kettle as a tribute to the good old days. A select selection of light and dark malts gives the beer its well-rounded body, ruby red color and complex flavor. The extract from freshly harvested hops is barely noticeable in the aromas and at most contributes a gentle, fruity spiciness and the crisp 26 bitter units.
The König Ludwig Dunkel comes in a shimmering reddish chestnut brown and completes its tempting appearance with a generous amount of dense, stable, ivory-colored foam. A dark symphony of strongly roasted grain, freshly brewed coffee and candied red fruits fills the desire and makes you excited for the first sip. The taste experience is opened by an abundance of robust malt aromas. Little by little, notes of warm yeast dough, gentlemen’s chocolate with a delicate melt, wild berry jam, espresso and creamy caramel enrich the play of aromas. A fine tartness, floral hops and a harmonious bitterness give the drink the finishing touch.
