The Holzkirchner Oberbräu has been part of the König Ludwig Schlossbrauerei Kaltenberg since 2007, but brewing operations in the historic brewery began centuries earlier. It is more than 400 years since the Abbot of Tegernseer granted Oberbräu the right to brew. Over the last four centuries, the brewery has established itself in and around Holzkirchen and is now an integral part of the town. Fortunately, the merger with the Schlossbrauerei did not put an end to the brewing operations. On the contrary: since the integration, Kaltenberg beer specialties have also been produced in the Oberbräu.
One of the most popular brews from the Holzkirchner Oberbräu is the Urtyp Hell. This traditional brew is the product of real craftsmanship and represents its Bavarian homeland with its hearty taste and mild character.
The Holzkirchner Oberbräu Urtyp Hell appears in a shiny gold in the glass and is decorated with a peak of fluffy, snow-white foam. A tantalizing mixture of sun-ripened grain and straw fills the air and awakens the thirst for beer. The first sip reveals a refreshing body with a gentle bitterness and dry aroma. Soft malt envelops the palate and combines with hints of caramel sweetness and lemony acidity to create a harmonious whole. The Urtyp is drinkable and uncomplicated - perfect for after work!
