The captain of this ship is a barrel-aged Imperial Stout with a black soul and a roasted aromatic character. A real fur seal.
The Munich Brew Mafia is known for its beers with a strong character. The brewers from Bavaria’s state capital did not let the pandemic stop them from brewing good beer and so they give us a real ray of light in a beery form. El Capitano is a powerful imperial stout with an incredible 10.0% alcohol content and intensifies its strong aromatic profile during storage in Cuban rum barrels.
El Capitano flows into the glass in jet black mahogany and adorns itself with a fleeting crown of slightly tinted foam. A strong aroma of dark chocolate, freshly roasted coffee beans and spicy rum fills the nose and tempts you to take the first sip. This reveals a voluminous body with a creamy flavor and a velvety soft mouthfeel. Full-bodied aromas of melt-in-the-mouth chocolate, caramel and exotic vanilla caress the palate. The barrel maturation manifests itself in a fine wood note that combines with the taste of raisins pickled in rum. The 10.0% alcohol content is well integrated into the taste and provides a cozy warmth that extends from the mouth to the stomach. The finish is dry and stays on the tongue for a long time with a powerful rum note.
For longer sea voyages, we recommend a good supply of this beer - otherwise there might be a mutiny!
