With their latest beer creation, the team from Nuremberg’s Orca Brau reflects on returning home. About the wonderful feeling of returning to your own four walls after a long, exciting and adventurous journey and letting all tension, burdens and stress fall away, breathing in the familiar scent of home and making yourself comfortable on the sofa. Our home is a special place on earth and the place where we feel most comfortable and safe, and to which we are always drawn. No matter how wonderful it is far away, at some point our home beckons with its well-trodden paths, with family and friends, our favorite cafés, a supermarket where we can find everything straight away and all the cozy pubs with wonderful, freshly tapped beer.
Because Orca is a brewery, their musings are of course of a beer-related nature: Heimkehr is a Franconian dark beer that was created in collaboration with Tobias, the beer brewer. The collaboration brew combines malt from Franconia with hops from Slovenia and a splash of holy water from the Vatican - the perfect balance between wanderlust and homesickness.
The dark, bottom-fermented lager brings a full-bodied composition of biscuit and toffee notes, forest herbs, floral hop notes and caramelized brown sugar to the tongue. Velvety smooth and extremely drinkable!
