Straw Man Fallacy is the term for a fallacy in a discussion: when someone derives a position from an argument or opinion and argues on this basis without first comparing this supposed point of view with the actual opinion of the other person. This person then argues against a fictitious point of view and not against the argument actually put forward. He or she is conducting the conversation against a straw man.
The Straw Man Fallacy is not only a rhetorical strategy, but also a cold-hopped New England IPA from Blech.Brut / Atelier Vrai. The Franconian brewery has a penchant for hopped India Pale Ales and is a master at handling hops in large quantities. For their latest work, the brewmasters juggle the varieties Citra, Krush and Nelson Sauvin. The brew brings a powerful 6.5% alcohol content to the table and comes in an opaque old gold with an orange peach tinge and a veil of white foam. The olfactory first impression is made up of oat biscuits, green hop cones, tropical fruit and citrus fruits and gives a good insight into the upcoming first sip. In the first and all subsequent sips, creamy notes of light grain, sun-kissed citrus fruits, freshly mown grass and sweet and sour tropical fruits spread. The accompanying bitterness increases as the beer is consumed and, together with tropical notes, forms a delicious, crisp, bitter finish.
