Shift is part 2 of Blech.Brut’s Bauhaus series and, like Spektrum, is inspired by the design of Bauhaus exhibition posters. Concentric circles in yellow and petrol pulsate around a magenta circle at the center, while black waves in the background sway to a hypnotic rhythm. The series’ concept is "geometry meets taste."
The brewery’s specialty is majestic India Pale Ales, and Shift certainly fits into this category. This Double New England IPA, brewed with Citra, Krush, and Nelson Sauvin hops, is bursting with explosive fruit notes. The beer pours a densely clouded orange-gold, adorned with a small crown of airy, white foam. A fresh cocktail of tropical fruits, white grapes, and citrus notes wafts around the nose and is echoed on the palate. The first sip caresses the tongue like liquid silk and floods the palate like a tidal wave of freshly squeezed juice. Grape and tropical fruit meet complex citrus and a gentle bitterness. Pure hops, combined with a substantial 7.8% ABV, create a dangerously drinkable concoction.
From the design of the label to its warm gold color and enticing aroma, right down to its exuberantly fruity taste, Shift is a true delight!
