New Zealand is a place of longing that has long fascinated and attracted people. The island in the Pacific Ocean is relatively isolated: Australia is about 2,000 kilometers away, and the New Caledonian Islands are also 1,500 kilometers away. Despite this remote location, countless visitors find their way there every year. This is due to the breathtaking nature, the adrenaline-pumping outdoor activities, the variety of sports available there, the open and relaxed people, the peace and quiet, and the space that still exists despite the sparse population. There's something for everyone. New Zealand also has something to offer brewers: hops!
The island's fertile soil provides a diverse selection of aromatic hop varieties, which have gained (and continue to gain) increasing importance in the wake of the craft beer movement. The team at Bamberg's Blech.Brut brewery is also under the spell of New Zealand hops and recently conjured up a New Zealand IPA: Manuel Fortuna, created in collaboration with the Salama Brewing Company from Finland, is flavored with the hop varieties Motueka, Nelson Sauvin, and Riwaka.
The bold and robust collaboration brew flows into the glass in an opaque eggnog yellow, crowned with a layer of thick, white foam. Juicy melon, banana, and golden pineapple permeate the aroma and flavor, the latter complemented by a light bitterness.
